Synopsis
Congenital cystic lung lesions are increasingly diagnosed prenatally. Variations in management of the patient with the antenatal diagnosis exist. Patients with lung lesions, who were not diagnosed antenatally, have become symptomatic later on in life.
The literature is reviewed to focus on these topics: What to discuss during the antenatal counselling from a paediatric surgeon’s perspective? What is the long term risk of an asymptomatic cystic lung lesion? In an asymptomatic child with a positive antenatal scan, what is the optimal imaging modality and timing?
